Shontel

Shontel Walker joined the Healing Grace team in November, 2016 as an intern working to complete her master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Avila University. Shontel completed her undergraduate degree in psychology from University of Central Missouri in 2007. While at UCM, Shontel achieved a job as a research assistant and worked closely with her professors gathering research data on racial and political affiliation.  She also published research on women’s issues.

After graduating from UCM Shontel worked in the mental health field for five years as a clinical case worker with ReDiscover Mental Health and at Spofford House. Shontel has assisted young adults with psychotic disorder develop skills to live independently and has worked with parents and children to improve relationships.  Shontel learned from these experiences that she wanted to continue her education and find more ways to assist individuals and families to live full, healthy lives.

Shontel works with individuals of all ages, but especially enjoys adolescents and young adults. Shontel receives ongoing training and supervision as an intern and is qualified to work with individuals, couples and families of all ages.

When she is not in the office seeing clients, Shontel is busy keeping up with her two children, ages 15 and 8, and planning her wedding to fiancé, Anthony.   She enjoys spending time with family, cooking, reading and attending sporting events.
