Twila describes herself as someone who always knew she would choose a career in a “helping” profession. In pursuit of that dream, she earned M.S. degrees in both Psychology and Counseling as well as credentials as a National Certified Counselor and a Professional School Counselor. Twila is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Certified AutPlay Therapist, and working toward her Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credentials.
Twila has worked as a school counselor at the middle and elementary levels. Twila enjoys the school setting because she, “loves the energy of the students and helping to make a difference for so many.” She enjoys the community setting because of the opportunity to work on a deeper level with clients and their families. She feels “honored” to share such a sacred and vulnerable space with others.
Twila believes each person is gifted with the ability to make positive change in their life. Therefore, her role is to gently guide and to “be with” clients as they engage in self-exploration about belonging, self-worth, empowerment, understanding and direction. Twila is passionate about Play Therapy, Sand Tray and other expressive techniques, but uses an integrated approach from several modalities to best meet each client’s needs.
Personally, Twila has been with her spouse 25+ years. She is a parent to a 10-year-old boy, a cat and two Corgis. In her spare time, Twila pursues hobbies such as gardening, bird watching, hiking, baking and interior decorating. Twila also enjoys traveling within the states and abroad.
