Tori received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology as well as Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in Corrections from Washburn University in 2020. Tori then received her Master’s in clinical mental health counseling as well as certificate in play therapy from Capella University in 2024. Tori found her passion for play therapy while completing her capstone project required for her undergraduate degree. Tori chose to write and present on play therapy, which sparked her passion for working with children and pursuing a career specifically in play therapy!
Tori has experience working with children and adolescents in an inpatient setting and is excited to have the opportunity to now work with clients in an outpatient setting! Tori is very excited to utilize play therapy modalities with clients as she believes in the power of play. Tori believes the power of play builds trust, supports development, encourages expression of emotions (even the big, scary, intense emotions), and allows the client to process their life experiences.
Tori is passionate about empowering clients to develop the skills to flourish, express themselves authentically and navigate the transitions and complexities of life. Tori is resourceful and a fierce advocate for clients and their families. You can depend on Tori to have a creative way to approach various situations by utilizing tenants of play therapy to process and work though the situation. Tori emphasizes the power of communication, both verbal and nonverbal.
Tori approaches therapy in various ways. Tori enjoys Adlerian, client-centered, and some solution-focused tenants. Tori believes the therapeutic relationship is collaborative in nature, and that clients often underestimate themselves and the resilience they possess. Tori believes in meeting the client where they are to propel them to greatness.
Tori enjoys spending time with family, traveling, hiking, and finding new shows to watch. Tori also enjoys planning events for others in order to fulfill her crafty side. Tori enjoys a good spin/Pilates class and hopes to get back into running marathons in the future.
“You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation” - Plato
